Sizing and efficiency
- Size: use our furnace sizing calculator to estimate the BTU you need, then have your contractor confirm with a load calculation.
- 80% AFUE: uses a standard metal flue and costs less up front.
- 92% to 98% AFUE: condensing furnaces vent through PVC, need a condensate drain and cost less to run.
- Propane: many furnaces list a propane conversion kit option for homes without natural gas.
