Air conditioner condensers
The condenser is the outdoor half of a central AC system: it holds the compressor, condenser coil and fan. Buy one on its own when you only need to replace the outdoor unit and your indoor coil is a good match. We carry more than 50 AC condensers from Goodman, Rheem, Rheem Select, Frigidaire, Oxbox by Trane, Tuttokool and Carrier, from 1.5 to 5 tons.
Matching a condenser to your system
A new condenser only reaches its rated efficiency with a compatible indoor coil. Before you order, check three things with your contractor:
- Refrigerant: most condensers here use R-454B or R-32. They can't run on an existing R-410A coil, so a refrigerant change usually means a new coil too.
- Capacity: the indoor coil should match the condenser's tonnage.
- Line set: confirm the line sizes in the installation manual and that the existing lines can be reused.
If your coil doesn't match, a condenser with evaporator coil set is the simpler choice.
Efficiency
Most condensers here are 14 SEER2, with 15 to 18 SEER2 options in single-stage, two-stage and variable-speed designs. Southern states require a higher minimum SEER2 than northern states, so check your region.
Shipping, returns and warranty
Manufacturer warranties apply when a licensed HVAC contractor installs the equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put a new R-454B condenser on my old R-410A coil?
No. The refrigerants aren't interchangeable, so the coil has to be replaced as well.
Does a condenser come with refrigerant?
Most ship with a factory charge for a standard line length. Your installer adjusts the charge for your line set.
