Heat pump and evaporator coil sets
Add heat pump heating and cooling to a home that keeps its gas furnace. Each set pairs an outdoor heat pump with a matched cased coil that sits on the furnace, so the furnace blower moves the air and can serve as backup heat. We carry more than 60 sets from Goodman, Rheem and Frigidaire, from 1.5 to 5 tons.
Choosing the right set
- Tonnage: match your cooling load. Start with our AC sizing calculator.
- Coil width: match your furnace cabinet. Coils here come in widths from 14" to 24.5".
- Airflow direction: some coils are multi-position, while others fit a single direction. Match the coil to your furnace.
- Efficiency: sets run 14 to 15 SEER2, including two-stage models.
Refrigerant: most sets in this category are R-410A, with R-454B options. R-410A equipment made before 2025 can still be installed in most states under the EPA's May 2026 rule (New York restricts it).
Dual fuel with your furnace
Paired with a gas furnace and a dual fuel thermostat, the heat pump handles mild weather and the furnace takes over when it gets cold. Your contractor sets the switchover temperature.
