Electric heat kits and heat strips
An electric heat kit installs inside your air handler and adds resistance heat. It's the backup heat for a heat pump on the coldest days and during defrost, and the main heat source for an AC system with an air handler. We carry more than 50 heat kits for Goodman, Frigidaire, Rheem, Oxbox by Trane, York, Coleman, Champion, Maytag, Nordyne and iAir equipment, from 5 to 20 kW.
Choosing a heat kit
Match the air handler
Heat kits are model-specific. Use the kit the air handler's manufacturer lists as approved.
Pick the kW
More kW means more backup heat and a larger electrical circuit. Your contractor sizes it for your home.
Breaker or not
Some kits include a built-in circuit breaker, which can simplify wiring. Check the product title.
Electrical supply
Confirm your panel and wiring can handle the kit's amperage before ordering.
Shipping, returns and warranty
Manufacturer warranties apply when a licensed HVAC contractor installs the equipment.
