Why Oxbox works well for homeowners

This Oxbox J5HP5 and J5AH is a split heat pump pair from Trane’s value line. The system runs on R-454B, the lower-impact refrigerant that already meets the 2025 EPA limit, so it is set up for current rules rather than an older refrigerant that is being phased out.

In warm weather the J5HP5 works like a regular air conditioner. When the thermostat is switched to heat, the same outdoor unit pulls heat from outside air and sends it indoors. Most models use a single-stage scroll compressor and a 10-speed ECM outdoor fan that help the condenser match airflow instead of running one fixed speed. The outdoor coil has a hydrophilic coating that sheds water and resists corrosion. The cabinet is painted galvanized steel with grilles on the coil sides, and the footprint is small enough for tighter side yards.

The J5AH air handler is the indoor half. It can be set upflow, downflow, or on its side, which helps in closets, attics, and replacement jobs where the old unit sat in an odd spot. The coil is all aluminum. The cabinet is factory-sealed to under 2% air leakage, so less conditioned air escapes into the attic or closet. A factory refrigerant sensor can shut the outdoor unit down if a leak is detected. The blower and coil slide out for service, and optional electric heat strips can be added for colder mornings when the heat pump needs backup.
