Why homeowners love Bosch Heat Pump Systems
The Bosch BOVA series condenser and BIVA series air handler are the two halves of the IDS Light split heat pump. The BOVA is the outdoor unit. The BIVA is the matching indoor air handler. Together they heat and cool through a normal duct system, using R-454B, the lower-impact refrigerant.
The outdoor unit is an inverter, not a single-speed condenser. The rotary compressor ramps from a low speed up past full rated output, in small steps, so the system can hold a steady temperature instead of cycling on and off. That is the main difference from a basic scroll heat pump. Outdoor sound usually drops once the compressor settles, helped by a sound blanket. A crankcase heater is standard. Pressure switches, temperature limits, and oil-return logic are built into the control board. The cabinet is powder-coated steel with a louvered coil guard, and the outdoor coil is salt-spray tested.
The BIVA is the indoor match for this Light series. On this pair the blower is fixed-speed, not a fully modulating fan. It moves the air the outdoor inverter produces and can take optional electric heat strips for colder mornings. Control is a standard 24-volt thermostat, not a Bosch-only communicating stat.
IDS Light is the lower-cost Bosch inverter line, not the premium IDS system. It is a fit for homeowners who want inverter comfort and cold-weather heating.
