FRIGIDAIRE 15 kW A2L Heat Kit HK1-15K-01A

The Frigidaire HK1-15K-01A is a factory accessory electric heat kit for packaged air conditioners and packaged heat pumps. It installs inside the unit’s electric-heat compartment and adds supplemental resistance heat when the outdoor unit cannot keep up or when electric heat is the primary heat source. Heating elements energize, the packaged unit blower moves air across them, and warm air is delivered through the duct system.

This Frigidaire kit is A2L-compliant and approved for use with both R-454B and R-410A packaged units. Older Frigidaire H3HK kits are not approved for R-454B.

Minimum airflow for a ~40°F temperature rise: 1,045 CFM (1,775 m³/h). Target rise is generally 30–40°F; avoid exceeding 40°F.

Exact MCA/MOP change with the host unit size and whether breakers or a single-circuit adapter are used. Always size branch-circuit protection from the unit nameplate after the kit is installed.

Dimensions and installation notes

This is an internal accessory kit, not a standalone cabinet. It mounts in the packaged unit electric-heat panel.

• 15 kW / 20 kW kits include a contactor bracket that fastens to the blower transition panel
• Element support rod must seat in the support bracket
• Horizontal supply/return: install with the limit toward the top of the unit
• Vertical supply/return: follow kit instructions for 15 kW orientation; rooftop vertical discharge needs an elbow so elements are not directly over a grille
• Position heater banks closest to the blower
• Mark the installed heater kit on the unit rating plate

Approved for Nortek / Frigidaire / Maytag / AireForce HK1-series packaged air conditioners and packaged heat pumps when applied per the HK1 installation manual including families such as:
