FRIGIDAIRE 8 kW A2L Heat Kit HK1-08K-01A

The HK1-08K-01A is an 8 kW factory accessory heat kit for packaged air conditioners and packaged heat pumps. It installs inside the unit’s electric-heat compartment and adds supplemental resistance heat when outdoor temperature drops or extra capacity is needed. Heating elements warm the supply air; the unit blower distributes it through the duct system.

A2L-approved components allow use with both R-454B and R-410A packaged equipment. The kit uses a 9-pin heater plug for factory-style connection, dual limit controls (main air limit plus backup limit), and a contactor for safe staged power. At 240 V it delivers about 23,816 BTU/h. Minimum airflow for a 40°F temperature rise is approximately 550 CFM. It is rated 208/230 V, single-phase, 60 Hz and can be wired as a single circuit or split across two circuits depending on the host unit.

Dimensions The HK1-08K-01A is an internal slide-in heater bank, not a standalone boxed appliance. It occupies the factory heat-kit opening in compatible packaged units. Physical envelope follows the unit’s electric-heat compartment (element plates, limits, and contactor mounted as shown in the HK1 installation instructions). Exact cabinet opening and mounting orientation depend on whether the packaged unit uses vertical or horizontal supply/return and small vs. large cabinet—see the HK1 Series installation manual for element position (limit toward bottom on vertical 8 kW installs; elements closest to the blower).
